Tuition Payment, Refund, and Charter Funds Policy

Families in our programs, we are so grateful for you! Thank you for being a part of El Jardin, Tides, Terrain, and Farm to Table. It is our great honor to serve you and offer these beautiful programs to your children!  When your family enrolls in our programs, we give your student a spot in a small, limited class that has been fairly priced so that we are able to cover our basic costs and pay our staff and teachers. We will not issue refunds for missed classes, either retroactively or in the future, for any reason. Children will get sick, mishaps happen and plans change, but our program is a semester-long class that is not priced in a way that can be divided out and refunded class by class.

Payments & Refund Policy

  • If you enroll and then cancel without attending any classes, we can refund all but $100 of your tuition per student, per program. The $100 retained is a non-refundable withdrawal fee accounting for enrollment expenses, materials, and program costs.

  • If you’re enrolled and classes are occurring, each class that occurs is a class covered by your tuition. If you notify us before week 5 of the program that you’d like to withdraw, we can refund half of the tuition value of the remaining classes. We calculate this value by taking the full tuition amount, subtracting the $100 withdrawal fee as well as the drop-in rate for each class attended, and then we can refund you half of that remaining tuition amount.

  • Lanterns Global will not give any cancellation refunds in or after week 5 of the program. (The last day of cancellation to receive any sort of refund is the Friday of Week 4. Starting the Saturday after Week 4 begins to count as Week 5, where refunds are no longer given.)

When we commit to provide this program to local families, we also commit to paying our teachers and staff for the full term, maintaining rental and administrative relationships, and building a healthy program culture for everyone. Thank you for your understanding.

Charter Funds & Payment Plan Policies

We have had the honor of being able to provide extra administrative services to those of you who are not able to pay for these programs out of pocket or in full at the time tuition is due. Many of our families pay for our programs using charter school funds; and many other families request special payment plans instead of paying for the full tuition on the day of enrollment.

When you enroll, we are reserving a limited spot in our program for your child. We are also pledging to provide work and wages to the teachers who will teach that class.  With this in mind, please review the following payment policies.

  • Penalty fees for incomplete amounts.

    • You are responsible to make sure that your funds are submitted correctly. It is extremely common for families to run out of funds and overlook the fact that they did not pay tuition in full. Please ensure that your charter payments are processed correctly  and on time. Please help us by communicating with your ES/HST; do not solely rely on them to manage your payments or alert you to low funds. You are still responsible for any outstanding tuition that is not covered by charter funds.

    • We will now charge penalty fees to families who do not pay the full amount of tuition that they were expected to pay using charter school funds. If, at the end of the program, we have not received the correct amount of tuition in the funds you submitted, we will charge additional late fees to be paid out of pocket. The additional late fee will be 20% of the missing amount. This is to cover all of the extra administrative fees it will take to figure out, organize, and track down missing student payments.

Thank you for taking time to read these payment policies. We are so grateful to be able to provide these programs to families, and we believe that these policies create a more sustainable foundation for our organization and everyone it reaches. As always, we appreciate you and we look forward to many more seasons serving families! As always, please feel free to contact the admin team if you have any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Megan Moreno
